Agency certifications and what they mean for your websites
Scott Lawrence London is a Drupal Certified Partner and Google Partner.
It's rare to find a boutique studio that holds accrediation in both marketing and website development.
Here is what each one means and how the combination translate to success.
Drupal
Certified
Partner
We are one of a small number of Drupal Certified Partners in the UK.
Drupal's partnership programme works differently from most. Many platform accreditations like Shopify are built on how much money you make them (i.e the more clients you subscribe, the higher your tier). In this model revenue is often shared with the agency - and while this encourage strong marketing affiliation - it can easily influence and agencies recomendation, rather than truely offering option based on what's best for your organisation.
In contrast, Drupal certification is based on contribution back to the platform. This can be technical expertise, code, design, marketing or documentation - but partner status signals active involvement in the platform's future development.
While a donation is made to the Drupal Association (supporting their charitable work to keep Drupal open and free for all), you cannot buy partner status. Agencises earn it, by putting real work back into the ecosystem.
What that means for your platform: Certified Drupal partners are assessed on capability, so you can have full confidence in how your website is structured and how it performs. Good decisions made at the foundation compound over time to create secure, power websites that will last for years.
It also means that we're not financially incentivised to suggest a specific platform. If we think Druapl is right for you, we'll tell you. If we think Shopify is a better move - we'll suggest that.
What it means for ownership: Every Drupal platform we build is in open-source infrastructure. That means there is no vendor controlling your core features. There is no pricing model that could change and take functionality away from your business. Yur website is your asset, you own it and you can control it. As an agency we go further by encouraging separation of hosting (under the clients name), so that you always hold the keys to your platform. That means whatever event might occur in the future, you're safe in the knowledge that have ultimate control of your website.
What it says about how we work: The principle underneath open-source development is simple: people who use the platform make it better for others. We build platforms to last because Drupal demands it, and because the clients we work with deserve it. It also means that companies benefit from new integrations like native AI integration and regular updates to contributed features like Commerce. A great example of benefitting from others is Southwark Council's new AI tool which converts PDFs into accessible webpages. Thanks to Drupal's contronbution system it can now be used by over 60 other councils, and will shorly will be availble to all Drupal-based sites.
Google Partner
Partner status signals knowledge across Google's marketing products such as Search, Google Ads, and Analytics.
A website that cannot easily be found online has an immediate ceiling.
Decisions made during the design and development process of a website ensure it's technically robust for Search, AI discovery and whatever shifts in the digital landscape might come next.
For design-led brands: Platform architecture affects SEO. Content structure affects indexing. The way product data is organised affects what Google can read and rank.
Google certified capability in the same agency as Drupal capability means those decisions happen in the same room, during the build — not between multiple agencies arguing it wasn't in their scope.
For third-sector organisations: The data you report to boards, funders, and trustees depends on analytics being configured correctly from day one. Donor attribution, campaign tracking, event sign-up paths — these require deliberate setup. We handle that as part of the website build, not as a second thought after the site is live.
Design, build and marketing in one agency
You might be asking: do we need a separate agency to build the website and another for ongoing digital marketing?
With us, the short answer is no.
At Scott Lawrence London all disciplines converge into expertise that runs deep through every project. The platform architecture informs the SEO strategy. The content model informs the analytics setup. The conversion path is designed at the same time as the checkout, not retrofitted by a marketing team six months after launch.
Holding both certifications can give you confidence that your website is build for you, built for your user and built to last.
